Perhaps none of you, the participants of the tournament and its contemporaries, remember how the JUREX Cup actually came about. It was prosaic. Some time in September 1999 I was approached by several members of GCAUS (then GCA), that a tournament had been organised whose sponsor had changed his mind about its “sponsorship” at the last minute. So we took it over, or rather the company I own which is JUREX spol. s r.o. This is how the JUREX Cup emerged. I was then a beginner golfer (although I probably still am) and I liked the idea of organising a meeting for friends, business partners and golfing mates in the form of a golf tournament. We chose a less "commercial" form, without any fashion shows and other attractions, instead focusing on the sporting aspect of golf, a good atmosphere, good food and practical prizes for the golfers. I also find it pleasant to watch how a number of tournament participants have in the course of several years moved from the category of “non-playing guests” to the category of "players". I am happy because thanks to our tournament, our ranks have also grown (of golfers that is). I wish us all lots of nice golfing experiences in the future not only with the JUREX Cup.
